I think it's okay--he DID say "Love" before "Hate." AND he finished the letter with a "Love Ambrose." I think he was just trying to put his frustrations of the day into words, which is great. This stems from him being upset that I had him stay in his room for his quiet time--sometimes it's tough being 5.
